Heredia Province in the Central Volcanic Mountain Range. The National Park has 45,899 Ha. |
| Fauna |
347 species of birds: barenecked umbrella bird, solitary eagle, clay-colored robin (yiguirro) and quetzal. Mammals: Howler, spider and white-faced monkeys, tapir, jaguar, puma, ocelot, paca and white-tailed deer. Reptiles: Bushmaster (largest poisonous snake in the continent). Frogs and toad are abundant. |
| Flora |
Evergreen forest with around 6,000 plant species recorded such as: tree ferns, heliconias, palm trees, oaks, bromeliads and lauraceous plants. |
| Description |
This park was dedicated to Costa Rica's third Chief of State Braulio Carrillo and it is located in a region where mountains are densely covered by forests and a multitude of rivers. It also includes Barva Volcano, Bajo La Hondura and Cacho Negro Peak. |
