Pacific Ocean, 15 Km off the coast from Corcovado National Park. The Reserve has: 200 Ha. (Terrestrial) and 2,700 Ha. (Maritime). |

Birds: cattle egret, common black hawk, osprey, brown bobby, Northern phalarope.
Mammals: Four-eyed opossum, paca.
Reptiles: Boa constrictor, brown tree frog, transparent tree frog, lizards.
Marine fauna: Starfish, sea urchins, lobster, giant conch. Five coral platforms are found offshore. |

Evergreen forest with species such as: locust, wild fig, cocoa, rubber tree, cow tree. |
| Description |
The Cano Island Biological Reserve protects forested and beach areas on an island off the Osa Peninsula, Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Scuba diving is popular around this island. It is covered in evergreen rainforest, and a pre-columbian cemetery is of archaeological interest. |
| Importance |
It is archeologically most significant, because it was used as a pre - Columbian cemetery. The area's most important attraction is its marine resources. The ecosystems forested by the reefs provide the organic platforms for the maintenance of a great diversity of marine organisms, such as reef - dwelling fish, mollusks crustaceans and echinoderms among others. |
