Description
Laguna Lodge is located on a narrow strip of land, six hundred feet wide, the lodge’s spacious gardens enjoy the Caribbean Sea on one side and Tortuguero Lagoon on the other.
The lodge has fifteen acres, full of trees and exotic plants, the gardens also shelter a great number of birds and butterflies.
Tortuguero is the most important nesting site in the entire Western half of the Caribbean for the green sea turtle. A natural system of canals and navigable lagoons of great scenic beauty cross the park from southeast to northwest forming the habitat for seven species of river turtles, manatee or sea cow, reptiles, mammals such as howler and spider monkeys and a wide range of crustaceans plus some 30 freshwater species of fish.
Also a wide range of crustaceans and some 30 freshwater species of fish. Eleven habitats have been identified in the park with the crab wood, banak, Santa Maria, bully tree and dove wood among the many types of trees.
There are two ways to get to Tortuguero, one is taking our regular tour that pick up passengers at most hotels in San Jose area and then on a safe covered boat, The other way is by air.
