A part of Costa Rica volcanoes, Arenal Lay dormant until July 29 in 1968, when an earthquake shook the area, and 12 ours later Arenal blew. Intermittent explosions draw people by day and night, although nigth is the best time to observe red-hot molten lava enveloping the top of the cone.
